Recruitment 02: Developing Materials

In an earlier post, we discussed Partnering with Others as a key part of recruiting. In this post, we will consider the materials we need.

Different strategies or capacities may require specific materials that highlight their unique ministry. LDHR is often responsible for broad-scope materials that encourage people to apply to the organization. These are just generalities – your country may want to do this differently.

Here are some of the common materials that might be useful for recruiting.

• Recruitment packs: Digital and physical one-stop packs that can include details about national ministry activities, staff life, discovering God’s will, MPD, and the application process. Who could help you with the stories, design layout, and best distribution method?
• FAQs: Clear, accessible answers to common questions of potential applicants, their parents, and supporting churches can be developed.
  –How would you determine the most helpful questions to answer?
  –What are the answers?
  –What is the best format for sharing the information?
  –What design elements can you add? (Ministry header, images, etc.)
• Career Pathing: As students and others consider their future and calling, do you have resources to help them reflect on how God has gifted them and what that could mean for their vocation? (The Career Pathways resources might help.)

To ensure your materials are relevant, you may want to survey your new staff or other young people involved in your ministry. Ask them what they think about your web presence, social media, and materials. Listen with a willingness to learn, and make the improvements that you can.

You also want to make sure all your staff know about the recruitment materials – how to find them and when to use them.
